8 Shopping and Services

1) Do you like sopping? Why /why not?

- Yes, I do. Because I like buying something new.

2) Different kinds of shops

- Bakery, butcher, grocery store, toyshop, jewellery, stationery, tobacconist s, bookshop, clothing shops

3) Favourite shop and why, favourite items of goods

- My favourite store is the clothing shop, because I like buying new clothes.

- My favourite goods is tshirts,tops, dresses, …

4) Where do you get the money you spend in the shops?

- I go to temp jobs and get pocket money.

5) What was the most expensive thing you have ever bought?

- I bought a phone.

6) Who does everyday shopping in your family?

- In my family, my dad shops every day.

7) How often do you go shopping for clothes?

- I go shopping for clothes once a month.

8) Advantages/ disadvantages of supermarket or a small / specialized shop

- Advantages of supermarket: different of foods, they are open longer, they have more.

- Disadvantages of supermarket: there are more people out there. It's a long way. It's a big deal

- Advantages of small: I know some people who work there, these shops are close to my home.

- Disadvantage of small: they don't have a great goods there. They're closed on the holidays.

- Advantages of specialized shop: They have certain goods here. The salesmen give us advice, they give us advice.

- Disadvantage of specializes shop: It's expensive there.

9) Would you like to own your own shop? What kind? Why / why not?

- I don't want to own my business because it's a big responsibility, it's expensive, I want another job.

10) What was the last thing you bought for someone else?

- I bought a birthday present for my boyfriend.

11) How can we pay + / -

- Pay by credit card – it is easier and safer than carrying a lot of money. Strangers can attack our account.

- Pay by note - I have more control over money. Can someone steal them from me more easily

12) Internet shopping

- Internet shopping it is great. It is very easy to shop on the internet because you don’t even have to leave your house. You have a choice of lots of goods and shops from all over the world.

13) Second hands/ flea market/ corner shop/ chain store/ department store/shopping centre

- Second hands - we can buy nice clothes there cheaper second-hand

- Flea market- we can buy old furniture, antiques, precious old things and anything

- Corner shop - we can buy anything in one place. Drugstores, food,…

- Chain store –

- Department store – Large shop, usually several floors with departmens that sell different kinds of goods – clothing, furniture, toys, …

- Shopping centre – is a very large building, usually one or more floors with many smaller shops inside it.

14) Window shopping

- Its when you go shopping just to look and see what the stores have without actually buying anything. I like to see whats new and I want to keep up with the latest styles.

15) Sales and discounts

- Traditionally there are big sales after Christmas. Usually there are discounts on the goods that haven’t sold well and on things at the end of a season, like summer clothes in the autumn.
