Are you a ´green person´? If so, how do you try to protect the environment? What about the
other members of your family?
Here’s what I do about recycling.
I put all my newspapers, magazines, old envelopes, in fact, all my paper to one
sack and recycle it. I put bottles that become empty into another sack. I take my
printer cartridges to a shop round the corner, where they collect them. It´s not
much, I know, but I think every little thing counts.
If I recycle paper, fewer trees will be cut down.
If I don’t drive to the shops, I use less petrol, I get valuable exercise.

There are a few reasons why the number of some animals is decreasing:
animals become victims of poaching. Poachers kill tigers, elephants, rhinos, and
others to sell their skin, fur, tusks, horns, ...
they lose their natural habitat because people cut down rain forests to have
more farmland and earn money by selling the wood, or people bring chemicals
into animals´ habitat (e.g. ships and tankers release oil into the sea)
How should endangered animals be protected?
by law – poaching must be made illegal, killing animals for fur and skin must be
banned
hunting must be regulated by law
new reserves have to be founded for rare and endangered species in their
natural habitat
Learn some more details about the endangered animals if you want.
The endangered animals include: elephants, tigers, giant pandas, whales, dolphins,
rhinos, great apes, and marine turtles.
The number of tigers that live in Asia is being reduced by poaching. People kill
tigers illegally and sell the skins, the teeth, and other parts to make money. But
the worst problem is that its natural habitat is disappearing, because the land is
being used by man for other purposes.
