How can we test vocabulary?

• Most of the tests focus only on one form – spelling/meaning – we should balance oral and written testing

• Multiple choice

• Gap filling – když nemám na vyběr slova – testujeme production (když je máme, testujeme understanding)

  • Cloze 7th word – system, který nám v textu vymaže každé 7. Slovo – můžeme tak vytvořit test

  • C – test – we have only half of the word (bea_t__ul)

• Gap filling with transformation (vary → variation)

• Grouping – we test the meaning (list of words and we have to put them in columns)

• Matching (as an additional activity we can tell them to pick 3 and write sentences)

• Sorting (magazine, pen, book, newspaper – co tam nepatří?)

• Definition-word

• Sentence completion – we start sentence, they finish it

• Translation
