polio - a life-threatening infectious disease caused by a virus
to eradicate - to eliminate
to alleviate - to relief, to reduce
blood thinner - medication that prevents the forming of blood clots
stroke - a brain attack, a serious condition when blood supply to brain is blocked
side-effect - an adverse, negative effect
analgesic – pain-relieving
syringe - small plastic tube with needle to inject medicine into body
addicted to - dependent on
pain-killer - a pain-relieving medicine

prodrugs -drugs that must be converted to become active
halt – stop
to clog up - to hinder, to obstruct (ucpat se, překážet)
to dislodge - to remove, to displace
to alter - to change, to transform
to gum up – to block, to spoil
to yank – to extract, to pull out (vytrhnout, vyškubnout)
shredder (skartovačka) – a machine for shredding discarded documents
biomolecules – molecules present in organisms that are essential to one or more typically biological processes
kinase enzyme – an enzyme that catalyses the transfer of phosphate groups from ATP to specific substrates
ligand – an ion or molecule that binds to a central metal atom to form a coordination complex
cellular receptor proteins – proteins either inside the cell or on its surface, which receives a signal
morphine -a strong opiate that is found in opium
immune to the disease x suffer from the disease x protect against disease
germs – (mikroorganismus, mikrob), a very small organism that causes the disease
