writ of summons = a document informing someone they will be involved in a

complaint = the irst pleading iled on behalf of a plainif, iniiaing a lawsuit 
and seing forth the facts on which the claim is based

answer = the principal pleading by the defendant in response to a complaint

aidavit = a writen statement that somebody makes ater they have sworn
