10. Canada

Canada is located in the north of North America. It is the second largest country by area in the world after Russia, it has almost 10 million per square km. Canada stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and on the north, there is Arctic Ocean.
In the south, there is border with America and this border is the longest border in the world.

The capital city is Ottawa and population is about 1 million people. The density of population is small, 3.4 people to 1 square km. Other big cities are Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary.

In the upper part here are 3 territories, Yukon, Northwest and Nunavut. Provinces are f. e. Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, New Buns.

People are bilingual and official languages are English and French. The most people live in the south cities because of the weather.

The national flag is white with red stripes on both sides and a red maple leaf in the middle. The national anthem is called O, Canada.

Canada is part of the Commonwealth. Canada is a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy. The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II. but she holds little power. Her representative is the Governor General.

Canada mostly has a continental climate with cold snowy winters and warm summers. On the Pacific coast the climate is milder. The far north has an arctic climate with severe winters.

The western part of Canada is mostly mountainous, The Rocky Mountains lie along the west coast. The highest peak is Mt. Logan, more than 6 thousand meters above sea level. The southern part of the country is covered in forest. The northern part is mostly tundra.

There are also many lakes and rivers the Mackenzie and St Lawrence rivers are the longest. The Great Lakes are located on the Canada-United States border (Lakes Superior, Huron, Eire, Ontario and Michichan). Niagara Falls on the Niagara River between Lake Eire and Ontario. They create the border between Canada and the USA. The Canadian part is called Horseshoe Falls. There are massive waterfalls, Victoria Falls and they are twice as big as Niagara Falls.

The Canadian national animal is the beaver, other animals are the moose, the coyote, the Canada goose, the black bear, the grizzly bear, which lives mostly in the north-west, the polar bear in
the Arctic region.

Canada is a great sporting nation. Popular sports include ice-hockey, American football, basketball and lacrosse. Another popular sport in Canada is curling. This sport, originally from Scotland, is played on an ice rink. Players in pairs try to sweep a curling stone with broomstick to a mark,

Well known Canadians in music are Celine Dion, Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber. Famous actor who came from Canada is f. e. Jim Carrey. An excellent actor who act in films like the Masks, Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar and more.

I think, that tourists should definitely visit Montreal, which is famous for its history and unique among North American cities because of its history.
The most visited places are Ottawa. Toronto is the largest Canadian metropolis. Toronto’s attractions include the CN Tower, the world’s tallest tower. Montreal is the largest city in the French-speaking province of Québec. Vancouver is also a popular destination and is the largest city on the west coast.
