* A HEALTHY DIET, OWN EATING HABITS, CHANGES OF EATING HABITS

HAVE A GOOD DIETS

- eat regularly (every 3 hours, little amounts of food)

- the food has to be well-balanced = eat a lots of fruit and vegetables – it contains vitamins, proteins (in meat,...)

- we should eliminate fat food

- we should eliminate red meat and eat white meat (chicken, turkey)

- eat pulses (lentils, beans…)

- avoid sweets

- avoid eating junk food and drinks such as energy drinks, coffee and fizzy drinks (contains lots of sugar, sparkling)

- drink a lot of water (at least 2 and half litters every day)

OWN EATING HABITS

I prefer healthy food, but I reckon that keep a diet is not good solution. During the week I go to school. I get up early but I am not hungry, so I eat at a school. I think that breakfast is very important. I use to have yoghurt with cornflakes. At school I eat some biscuits/hole grain bread with cheese or dairy products. Mainly I have a lunch at school, where we can choose from 2 meals. I don´t eat soup. I use to eat only the second dish. The last meal of the day is dinner which comes between 6 and 7 o´clock. I use to have slice of bread with butter and salami. During the day I eat fruits and vegetable without which I cannot imagine life.

CHANGHES OF EATING HABITS

Eating habits have changed in recent years. Cuisine has become more international. People could hardly do without Italian, Greek, Chinese restaurants. Popular dishes are pizza, spaghetti, lasagne, moussaka, gyros...

* DAILY MEALS (WHEN/WHERE/WHAT WE EAT)

BREAKFAST

In our country daily meals usually start with breakfast, which consists of something to drink – tea, cocoa, hot milk, coffee – and something to eat, one or two slices of bread, butter and cheese or eggs, ham, salami, jam etc. Sometimes we can prepare ham and eggs or omelette.

Instead of bread we can eat rolls or we can have something sweet – cakes or donuts. Quite a lot of people eat cereal for their breakfast – either cornflakes or muesli – they also sometimes add various ingredients like yogurt, walnuts, hazelnuts etc. Breakfast usually takes place between 6 and 7 o’clock.

SNACK

At 10 a.m. that is time for a little snack. It is good to have something small, easily digestible/strávitelné, such as fruits, vegetables or yogurt.

LUNCH

Around noon we have lunch which is warm and consists of some soup, main dish, something to drink and salad or dessert.

Starters: Ham Rolls with Cream and Horse-Radish, Ham and Eggs, Pickled Sausage, Onion, Vinegar and Bread

Soups: Either vegetable soups (potato, tomato, bean, carrot, celery, mushrooms) or meat teas (beef tea, tripe,

chicken, Goulash soup, etc.)

The main

It dish can be either sweet – e.g. strawberry or plum dumplings, pancakes with jam and cream, baked yeast dumplings (Czech buchty), etc. Or we can have some meat or fish with some side dishes such as potatoes, chips, rice, Czech dumplings, pasta or bread.

Fish: trout in butter, cod fillet, dried carp, eel on wine, salmon in lemon,...
We distinguish between the following types of meat: pork, beef, chicken, turkey, mutton/skopové, veal/telecí and we can prepare it in various ways – roast it, grill it, boil it, bake it or stew it – we can mince or smoke some kinds of meat.
