7MO – Food, cooking, catering Eating habits in CRCompared to other nationalitiesHow to eat in healthy wayMeals I prefer and am able to cook Osnova: Eating habits in ČRIn UKIn USAHealthy foodMy favourite foodWhat am I able to cook 1.EATING HABITS IN CR: - week in school, office, weekend at home or restaurant - typical Czech breakfast: cup of tea or coffee, bread with cheese/ham/jam, fruit – when we have time it´s boiled egg or oatmeal - My breakfast consists of cereals with milk, sometimes fruit and orange juice typical lunch: soup (beef soup with liver dumplings, chicken noodle soup), lunch (roast pork and dumplings and sauerkraut, Roasted chicken with potatoes, Stuffed bell peppers with tomato sauce) and sometimes dessert (honey cake called medovník, ice cream, apple pie) - Lunch I usually have in school cafeteria – really tasty meal, I like it there, at the weekend my mom make us food, my favourite lunch is chicken meat with potatoes or some sauce (tomato with dumplings) - typical dinner (warm/cold): eggs, sausages, pasta, bread with ham or omelette, vegetable - For dinner I usually have bread with ham and vegetable or some salad, sometimes pasta - what we usually drink: breakfast (tee, coffee, juice), lunch (fizzy drinks, juice, water), dinner (same as lunch) 2.EATING HABITS IN UK: - full English breakfast consist of eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans and tomatoes – I would like to try it but i don´t eat mushrooms and beans, they also eat cereals with milk, slice of toast for example with peanut butter - lunch: most known is fish and chips, Sunday roast (This dish is made up of: roasted meat (beef, chicken, lamb or pork), roast potato, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, vegetables (usually a selection of: roast parsnips, Brussels sprouts, peas, carrots, beans, broccoli and cauliflower, not necessarily all) and gravy.) - usually have packed lunch – sandwich (mayo, ham) and chips - dinner: called meat and veg (hot brown gravy from the juices of the roast meat) on the meat usually with potatoes, brussel sprouts or carrots - differences: maybe healthier (more vegetable as side dishes), our main food is lunch but in UK i tis dinner because they haven´t got much time for it) 3.EATING HABITS IN US: - breakfast: it can be also fast (yoghurt or cereals, bagels, donuts, muffins), but when they have time to prepare it – pancakes with maple syrup, hash browns (potato pancakes), oatmeal, omelette - lunch: also eat at school (piece of fruit or vegetable, biscuit, chicken nuggets or wings), fast foods (hamburgers, …) - dinner: pasta (macaroni and cheese), fast foods, beef meat - differences: most unhealthy, they also have main food for dinner and fast lunch and breakfast 4.HEALTHY FOOD: - get rid of fatty foods and foods which contains too much salt, sugar of fats (burgers, chips, pizza, …) – bad for our health (mainly hearth) and obese people may have high blood pressure or diabetes. Ready-made food can have a lot of chemicals or artificial colours, don´t drink fizzy drinks as cola, sprite, … - eat more fruit and vegetable, have balanced diet (bit of everything), eat smaller food but regularly, drink lot of water 5.MY FAVOURITE FOOD: - I like Czech cuisine - I love sauces as tomato sauce and svíčková sauce with classic Czech dumplings/ but I hate dill sauce - another Czech food that I really like are dumplings filled with smoked meat or pancakes (they are really easy to prepare – you only need eggs, milk, flour and sugar, then you mix it all together, put it to pan and fry it – served with jam or fruit) - from foreign food I love Chinese noodles, sushi, Italian pizza or pasta 6.WHAT AM I ABLE TO COOK: - I am really bad at cooking, I am only helping my mom in the kitchen - only easy dishes as pasta, pancakes - pancakes (they are really easy to prepare – you only need eggs, milk, flour and sugar, then you mix it all together, put it to pan and fry it – served with jam or fruit) - pastas (boil some water with salt, put pasta until it is soft, chop some onions which I add to potato sauce, potato sauce with onions into the pan, keep it warm, …)
