A film crew is a group of people producing a television broadcasting. A film crew includes: television
director (he is usually responsible for directing the actors and), make-up artist (applies makeup to anyone
who appears on the screen), production designer ( he is responsible for the production's visual appearance),
head writer (oversees the writing team on a television series), scriptwriters (they create screenplays for
films and television programs), camera operator (he uses the camera as instructed by the Director),
composer (he writes the music for a production), news anchor (is a person who presents news during a
news program on the television), webmaster (he maintains a newscasts webside)

The Czech Republic has many stations. The most popular are: ČT1, ČT2, ČT24, Nova, Prima, TV Noe.
In Britain there are five “terrestrial” channels: BBC 1 (it shows sport and current affairs), BBC 2
(documentaries, travel programmes, music), ITV, Chanel 4, Chanel 5.
If you pay extra, you can have a satellite dish or cable TV and receive more channels.

The internet is about to become medium number one and

become a major tool for news outlets.

We can join discussions, or just browse the web, send and receive emails, read newspapers, do your
shopping, book your journey, chat, search for any information and download music and films.
Website is a place on the Internet containing pages with different information. The letters www stand for
World Wide Web.

Internet is a great technology. We can find there almost anything, but we must be careful: There are many
viruses of various types and sometimes they can destroy our computer system. But we can install an
antivirus on our computer to help protect the device. We also need to be careful about hoax emails which are
distributed to cause false fears.

Internet gives us great opportunities for communicating with each other too. Social networking sites and
chat rooms on the internet allow us to stay in contact, make new friends and interact with people all over the
world. The dark side of this is that, in some cases, the same technology is used to humiliate or threaten
people. The good example of that is cyber bullying. It has the goal to hurt someone and it is done via the
internet. It can take many forms. And people who are bullied should find the help. Nobody is alone. Just call
the safety line or tell parents or friends.

There are also different types of internet professions, for example: blogger (his content often revolves
around commentary, news updates and reviews), systems consulting (they evaluate the existing information
systems of clients and report potential issues), web developers (are engineers in the creation and support of
architecture and features for websites),

information architect (they engage in the organization and design

of websites or intranet portals).

ESCAPISM

It is a way of avoiding an unpleasant or boring life. This may include mass media. Many people prefer to
surf the internet or watch TV rather than live their real lives and they communicate little with others.

This can be a problem. They may become addicted and start to have some mental problems. Therefore, it is
good not to overdo it. We should always spend not so much time by watching TV, surfing the Internet or
reading the newspaper.



THE INFLUENCE OF MASS MEDIA

Through mass media, news outlets have a major influence on the general public and a major impact on the
public's opinion.
