His father was a general practitioner – medical care to individuals, also great hunter and fisherman and used to take Hemingway with him → he liked this
His father wanted him to become a doctor
His mother was at home
She wanted Hemingway to be a girl, she dressed him as a girl… - because he had a twin sister
After this experience Hemingway started to be obsessed with masculinity
He only graduated high school
One of his jobs was a sparring partner and boxer
His stories were very successful
He was offered a job in Canada in newspapers
He volunteered for the Red Cross in France in 1914
He was hit – injured in WWI
Inspired him to write a book A Farewell to Arms
An American who is wounded in Italy front, in hospital he fell in love with a nurse – they start a new life, everything is perfect, she gets pregnant and dies during giving a birth
