Winter activities is available to both adults and children. Thanks to the winter holidays, we can have a great time with our family.

Winter tourism primarily involves visiting places where you can just relax, do outdoor activities or extreme sports. It could be both tourism within the native country or trip to other country.

The most common type of winter tourism is recreation in the mountains. People come here not only to go skiing, snowboarding, sledding and snorkelling, but also enjoy the wonderful scenery and breathe in the clear mountain air.

The most popular and developed ski resorts are located in Europe, where we can relax in all kinds of entertainment complexes. Travel agencies actively offer trips to the famous ski resorts in Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, France, Switzerland and Ukraine.

Some winter destinations offer tourists to visit spas and water parks, as well as ice skating sites. Other lovers of winter tourism go on tours to the northern people to explore their traditions and way of living, as well as do mushing. Spending the New Year´s Eve or Christmas in the mountains is also quite popular holiday program for many tourists.

BUT in the Czech Republic there are also many places for winter tourism. There are about 300 ski resorts. These ski centres for example in Šumava or Krkonoše mountains offer tourists many different activities. Some of the most popular include downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and ice skating. By the way the longest ice skating track in the world is situated at Lipno.

8. SUMMER TOURISM

Summer is the most favourite season for most of us. That’s why tourism in summer is very popular all around the world. Sometimes we plan our summer vacation a year ahead. The duration of such a vacation can be different - from a couple of days to several weeks and months.

Summer tourism involves a whole entertainment program - it can be a tour to the wellness centre, an active form of relaxation, a beach resort or a sightseeing trip. It can be divided into the following types of recreation:

• foreign

• on the beach

• in nature

• cultural or educational

• ecological, otherwise agritourism or country tourism

The foreign tourism is the most popular type of summer tourism: various language courses and exchange programs, tourist trips to other countries, including beach resorts, treatment abroad, children's foreign camps and much more.

Beach tourism is suitable for those people who like a calm rest without activity with the opportunity to enjoy the warm sea and sunbathe on the beach.

Nature tourism is suitable for restoring health. Active sports such as mountain climbing, biking, walking or roller-skating are also very popular.

Educational, or cultural, includes not only visiting historical places and attractions, but also the possibility of receiving additional education. It could be, for example, a trip to summer language camps.

A new trend is ecological summer tourism, in which tourists go away from the bustle of the city to the countryside.
