In the Czech Republic prom usually takes place from November to March. The ball starts in early evening and the formal part ends with the strike of midnight. Students dance with their teachers, parents and have a special performance during which they dress up in costumes.

4. Sports

Sports play a big role in high schools and universities. NCAA is The National Collegiate Athletic Association. Both male and female athletes compete in 23 different sports. Athletics is part of university life. Students witch poor marks are not allowed to play and compete. NCAA also regulates the scholarships for students.

5. Columbine April 20, 1999

The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting and attempted bombing that occurred on April 20, 1999. Two senior students murdered 12 students and one teacher. In the school library they committed suicide. "Columbine" has become a byword for mass shootings. the attack involved several homemade bombs and their cars were made into bombs but they failed.

6. Clubs

Another option how students can live on campus are fraternities (for guys) and sororities (for girls). Each club is focused on particular area for example medicine. If students are accepted in these groups, they can live in fraternity or sorority house. Each club has their own reputation and students get access to new social groups.

7. Gap Year

Is year long break before or after university during which students are traveling or working. Students take gap years to achieve some personal growth or to decide about their future and higher education they wish to pursue. Students usually take advanced courses or language studies.

8. School segregation

Segregation began in the Southern United States with the passage of Jim Crow laws in the late 19th century. It was legal segregation in public facilities like schools. White Americans must be separated from African Americans in restaurants, schools, they could not buy some things and marriages between them weren´t allowed.

As a reaction, in the 1950s started the beginning of civil rights movement.

9. Bullying

Is the use of force or abuse to aggressively dominate. It is very common in all types of schools. The reasons why this is happening are various. Some children find bullying funny, want to show their power or bully someone because of their looks or origin.

10. Detachment

Is an American movie about substitute high school teacher who doesn´t stay long at one place because he does not want to create emotional ties to students. Movie shows problems of American education system, the helplessness of the cantors and infinite power of students. Cantors are frustrated because of their work. We can also see social differences and everyday problems of people who are at the bottom.

Detachment is a chronicle of one month in the lives of several high school teachers, administrators and students through the eyes of a substitute teacher named Henry Barthes. Barthes' method of imparting vital knowledge to his temporary students is interrupted by the arrival of three women in his life—the damaged and naive prostitute Erica, a fellow teacher and a troubled teen named Meredith.
