7. Jaké překladatelské postupy vydělují Vinay a Darbelnet?

Direct (literal) translating

borrowing: in order to introduce the flavour of the source language culture
into a translation, foreign terms may be used (roubles, tortillas,
tequila…)/some words are not even considered like borrowings anymore

caique: special kind of borrowing – a language borrows and expression
form of another, but then translates literally each of its elements
a) lexical caique: respect the syntax of TL, introduces a new mode of
expression
b) structural caique: introduces a new construction into the language

literal translation (word for word translation): direct transfer of a SL into a
grammatically and idiomatically appropriate TL text/most common when

translating between two languages from the same families French and
Italian)

Oblique translation

transposition: replacing one word class with another without changing the
meaning of the message (base expression – transpoted expression)

modulation: a variation of the form of the message, obtained by a change in
the point of view (when translation results are considered unsuitable,
unidiomatic or awkward)

equivalence: same situation can be rendered by two texts using completely
different stylistic and structural methods

adaptation: the type of situation being referred to by the SL message is
unknown in the TL culture
