Criminal law can be defined as a division of law which imposes punishment on the wrongdoers fueling 
the aims of retribution, deterrence and possibly reformation. 
Crime is to be understood as action of such kind viewed collectively or abstractly as violence of law in 
general. 
A crime can be defined as an illegal act which may result in prosecution and punishment by the state if 
the accused is convicted. Generally, in order to be convicted of a crime the accused must be shown to 
have committed an unlawful act (actus reus) with a criminal state of mind (mens rea). 
Embezzlement  can  be  defined  as  using  illegally  or  stealing  money  which  you  are  looking  after  for 
someone else. 
Libel can be understood as writing, publishing or broadcasting a statement which damages someone’s 
character. 
Hijacking can be described as a crime of unlawfully seizing a commercial vehicle (airplane, ship, or 
truck) by force or threat of force.
