1492 – Columbus arrived in America (reached Cuba and the Caribbean instead of India) 

an Italian sailed under a Spanish flag that’s why the Spaniards were the first colonists 

he wanted to make a trade between Europe and Asia 

instead of reaching India he anchored on a new continent 

since that time, he began to explore the New World which was inhabited by native Americans

because there were good conditions for growing tobacco

in Europa people started smoking because tobacco was brought by sailors to Europe (first to England)
