he had very open progressive views (you can’t be rich and careless if you want to be successful):
1) SOCIETY CANNOT BE STABLE IF THERE ARE BOTH TOO RICH AND TOO POOR PEOPLE
he realised that everybody had to had a certain level of wealth to avoid revolutions and revolts
2) LIMITATION OF THE POWER OF BIG BUSINESSMEN
a big business wants to control a branch of economy and it means that there is no competition
he wanted to allow enough freedom for businessmen
but they shouldn’t have taken advantage of other people
he passed a legislation about the competition because the prices wouldn’t be so high
3) FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION
with a try of limitation of the power of the big business he fought against corruption
he cooperated with the press
4) 1st NATIONAL PARKS
he realised that if the industry develops and expanses well, there aren’t going to be any forests any more
he was concerned about ecology and passed a legislation to limit industrial pollution
huge places of land had to be protected by the States
