the Germans made the Americans very angry because they sank a big British passenger ship which were sent to 
Britain from the USA as a support 

1917 – the USA entered the 1st WW (the war was a huge business) 

many people in the USA thought that it was a European issue and they shouldn’t have get involved 

Woodrow Wilson: “You can’t become an important power if you don’t get involved” 

­ it took a long time to train all men so that they could be sent into a war (but they managed it in time)

both black, white and Native American soldiers fought in the US army 

black soldiers had a sense of dignity as they represented the Americans and fought for their country 

the American soldiers mostly sent to France and they were very well received by French soldiers 

Wilson played a huge role in the war because he was very active and the economic was developed 

he was a president (rector) at Princeton University before being a president 

he was very knowledgeable in history and geography
