an imagined speaker addresses a silent listener his or her feelings, actions, or motives
the listener unwittingly reveals details about the speaker

favourite in the Middle Age
popular in Christianity but not only there
poet presents a story as told by one who falls asleep and dreams the events of the poem
someone falls asleep under a tree and has a dream where someone important appears (God/Goddess)
this voice advices him/her what he/she should do in a difficult situation

a sad poem of a sad mood with a lamenting tone that expresses loss of a family member or a loved one

EPITAPH
a short piece of writing or a poem about a dead person, especially one written on their grave stone
it sums up the life in a very short way
some people may prepare the lines in advance
