structure = entity made of certain elements (basic unit: element) 

every single element is different with special individual features 

but by putting all elements together to form a structure, those elements get properties that they don’t have 
individually (those compound elements get new, certain properties) 

each structure has certain rules which have to be followed and according to which it must behave 

everything that is around us is a structure (class, paintings etc.)
