poem where the poet retracts (vzít zpět) what he/she said earlier
he/she is arguing with himself/herself
15. PASTORAL
used to be popular in 17th and 18th centuries (when the cities started to develop)
depicts rural life in a peaceful and romanticized way
it expresses admiration and love for clean nature because it’s becoming more and more privilege
it can be either with or without a human presence
if the human being is included, then always: shepherd, shepherdess, animals, nature and their love
16.
SOLILOQUY
a character is talking to himself/herself
the character thinks that he/she is alone
example: Hamlet: “To be or not to be.”
Falling to the ground,
I watch a leaf settle down
in a bed of brown.
There was a Young Lady whose chin
Resembled the point of a pin:
So she had it made sharp,
And purchased a harp,
And played several tunes with her chin.
