the name comes from beat music
artists: gifted, they learnt play guitar on their own (music was different) and were from working class
the 1st debut (vystoupení) in Liverpool
the aim: to express ideas of young generation after the 2nd WW
movement of young, white people who were against capitalism and merchant style of life
those young people who are in a period of economic boom have everything (washing machines, houses, cars, …)
life was easier and more prosperous
they grew up in the prosperous world (American economy boomed – Marshall plan, Europe was destroyed)
the representatives thought that being able to buy goods is not enough to make you happy
to be happy doesn’t mean to have lots of goods because if you have enough goods you might be still unhappy
