Japanese-Americans used to live on the shores of the Pacific Ocean (close to their original direction)
American society included a large number of Japanese immigrants (they were farmers, grew vegetable, fruit
trees and they were owners of businesses such as restaurants or shops)
the act of military officials relocated them hundreds of kilometres to the centre of the country
they were accused of having been spies and they couldn’t be trusted any more
Hawaii was a place where they could stay because it would have been so expensive
they had to leave their houses, businesses (shops, restaurants) and move into the territory of the USA
they could be administrators of their businesses but they were no longer owners
the relocation included old people, babies, people who no longer spoke Japanese but looked like Japanese
it was a political propaganda strategy to make the enemy visible (according to the visual appearance)
it was also done because of an economical competition and racial competition
the same destiny shared Japanese people in Canada
nothing happened to German-Americans because it was more difficult to make the enemy visible
Chinese-Americans were advised to wear badges that they are not the Japanese
Japan’s boarders had been closed for 200 years but they were obliged to open its harbours for Japanese
