Other kinds of clauses may be used as comment clauses 

The road flooded as it rained. an adverbial finite clause, connected by a CONJUNCTION 

I am working the night shift, as you know. an adverbial finite clause (connected by a comma) → a 

comment (realised by…) 

BTW: He’s the new king, which everybody knows. - NDRC → He’s the new king, as everybody 

knows. -a comment (However, the meaning of both these sentences is the same…)
