PURPOSE)
We arrived early so (that) we got good seats. We arrived so early that we got good seats. (we got good
seats as a RESULT)
So that, in order that, in case, lest + modal verb (<- the action is only potential, we use a
modal verb)
can be in the 1st place or in the 2nd
We´ve arrived early so that/ in order that we may/can/wil get good tickets.
We arrived (simple past →) early so that/ in order that we should/could/might/would get good tickets.
We've instal ed an extinguisher next to the cooker in case there is ever (there should/might ever be) a
fire.
I avoided mentioning the subject lest he be offended. I asked them to ring first lest we were out.

finite clause; we used infinitive of purpose). The Ss of both are the same -> only in this case we can use

purpose – different Ss, we have to use an ADV clause of purpose or ↓ use this construc on ↓)

that' and It's stil an adverbial clause of result

His reactions are so quick (that) no one can match him. He reacts so quickly (that) no one can match
him.
